Cancer-SOLES

Cancer-SOLES is a new digital platform for the systematic and continuous preparation of preclinical evidence in preclinical cancer research, with a special focus on small molecule targeting therapies.

Cancer-SOLES (Systematic Online Living Evidence Summary) was developed as part of a BMBF/BMFTR project and with the support of the SOLES infrastructure by team members of the Berlin Institute of Health @ Charité (part of the international CAMARADES initiative) in cooperation with the Institute for Laboratory Animal Science at the RWTH Aachen University. Cancer-SOLES dashboard aims to present successfully used animal models for testing targeted therapies against cancer and to improve the animal model selection that can be used for the different tumor entities and small molecule classes.

🔬 The aim of Cancer-SOLES is to make preclinical evidence more transparent, accessible and continuously up-to-date – to promote evidence-based, responsible research, to support the 3R principles (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) and to strengthen translation for clinical application.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Evidence-Based Research – Cancer-SOLES provides a continuously updated overview of preclinical cancer studies, improving transparency and accessibility of scientific evidence.
  • Better Animal Model Selection – The platform helps researchers identify the most suitable and well-validated animal models for testing targeted cancer therapies, supporting more reliable and ethical research.
  • Advancing the 3Rs – By promoting systematic, data-driven research, Cancer-SOLES contributes to Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement in preclinical cancer studies, enhancing both scientific quality and animal welfare.
