Refining rodent i.v. injection training by creating, improving and disseminating realistic training models

AIMS

  • Performing i.v. injections in rodents is a commonly needed task in research but challenging to learn in the beginning
  • 3D-printed mouse tail models can be used to facilitate the learning process and reduce the number of practice injections needed on live animals
  • Tail models are provided for free to researchers and trainers
  • A feedback survey assesses the efficacy of the tail models for training
  • Based on the feedback, further optimizations and developments are made to improve user experience and training outcome
  • Survey results will be published to prove the tail model’s feasibility and promote the use of artificial animal models

OUTPUT

We visited Felix in Zurich to film an instructional video for the 3D printed mouse tail.
